This piece was minted c.364-378 AD at the Cyzicus Mint (Modern day western Turkey). The piece is in a fantastic state of preservation, certified by NCG as Choice AU with 5/5 strike and 2/5 surface, due to an unfortunate graffiti that occurred sometime between the striking and now. Swipe for a video to see the piece! Examples from Constantinople, Antioch, & Nicomedia are more common, but Cyzicus examples are quite scarce because the revolt of the usurper Procopius occupied the mint. The comparable sales suggested a significant premium for only problem free examples, which is why this example sold in our live sale at a more affordable price.
